BOILERMAKING

Complete all four levels to attain journey-level Boilermaking status. Finishing this course satisfies the requirements of a Boilermaker apprenticeship program (4 years and 8,000 hours of on the job training).

 

Boilermaking is a four-level curriculum that meets the requirements of a boiler- maker apprenticeship program (4 years and 8,000 hours of on-the-job-training). If a trainee completes all four levels, he or she can be a journey-level Boilermaker, with specialized skills and opportunities for career advancement.

For this second edition, information has been added on towers, vessels, and furnaces; safety analysis and pre-job safety check lists; and up-to-date techniques for cutting and fitting gaskets, base metal preparation, and welding basics. Also new to the second edition are the Going Green features. These features highlight products, practices, and projects that are energy-efficient, sustainable, and Earth-friendly.
